Latvian Sports Medicine State Agency organises and proceeds the patient's treatment as well as a scientific research and postgraduating courses in sports medicine.

Main duties and directions of work:

• Fitness testing of children and adolescents (education, co-ordination and practical work):
• to evaluate the situation in state,
• to elaborate the fitness standards and to introduce accordingly a program of physical education;
• Specialised medical control for the members of sport schools;
• Specialised medical control in sports for the disabled;
•  Medical control of the top level athletes;
•  Education and postgraduate course for the specialists in sports medicine.

Available for everyone:

• Detects a level of physical capacity;
• Detects a risk degree of the coronary artery disease;
• Recommends an individual workout's plan, exercise intensity, duration and frequency;
• Treat the traumas, diseases of the nervous system as well as otorhinolaringologic (nose-ear-throat);
• Rehabilitate in the back, joint disorders and another pathological conditions:
• physical therapy,
• massage,
• osteoreflexotherapy,
• laser therapy et cetera.
